Linux....what's that?

People are in a box we can say. Because they know very less about the computer world.
They are unaware about the OS(s) platforms. They just know what is called the WINDOWS.
In a case of 5 people, 3 out of which will be using the WINDOWS and 1 will be using
the MAC OS.And the remaining 1 guy will be using, what you are reading about, 'LINUX'.
And so he/she will be considered as a geek. Because previously they used to say that
Linux is for geeks. Because Linux was completely command line based platform, but yet
it was and still is the most powerful computer OS on the planet.

But today the scene has changed. Linux has evolved, as so much time has passes since its
first release. Let me clear this thing, Linux is not a single OS. It is a base. Linux
has many distributions developed and maintained by many companies. A Linux distro
called UBUNTU(latest ver. 11.10) has got a mind blowing GUI(Graphical User Interface), which can even
give tough fight to Windows 7.

But what does make Linux tick? Because Linux is the only computer OS platform on the planet which is 'FREE' and free to modify. Ya, you read it right. Linux is OPEN SOURCE. You
can download any Linux distro for free and modify it according to your needs. And moreover you can
redistribute your modified version. The software(s) which come with any Linux distro
are also open source. You can study or modify the code and make it work the way you want and redistribute it. And that is why people say that Linux is flexible.

Linux is really a secure platform. The servers of the Biggest Social networking sites
work on Linux. Even Google servers work on Linux and lot more. Today Linux is every where.
You cannot imagine where. Linux is all around you. You have no idea how close we are to
Linux and yet we didn't notice. I want you to see the video below. And you will come to know how great and huge Linux is. Have a look....!
